Oscar Wilde: A Retrospect

Fine Binding. 20 cm x 16.5 cm x 1.5 cm. 2021.
New Oriental Style structure with boards and spine covered in black goatskin; box calf and sea snake onlays, suede inlays, Canson pastedowns and flyleaves with cover design continued in pochoir; titled with foil and carbon.

This signed, first edition series of essays on Oscar Wilde’s literary contribution and personal life highlight both his creative genius and the price he paid for his nonconformist lifestyle by the standards of that time. The design is inspired by his sharp wit and flair for life. The black suede inlays are reminiscent of the velvet suits and fur collars he often wore. The vertical lines echo his tragic incarceration. Brightly colored pastedowns and flyleaves reflect his vibrancy and style.
