Vanishing

Framed Broadside. 11″ x 14″. 2021
Letterpress from wood and metal type, pochoir, and gouache on Stonehenge Kraft.

A half century of decline leaves skies emptied and songs unsung/Ecosystems unravel as habitat is lost and species vanish/We note the uninhabited branches outside our windows and help scientists record the missing. According to a study released last year through the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, 2.9 billion birds have vanished since 1970, the year I was born. This new series of broadsides honors the lives lost and encourages us to develop a deeper connection to the natural world, and hopefully, a greater sense of urgency to protect it.
